Poland’s economic growth, its highways, its army — the story of our northern neighbour has taken on almost mythical proportions among Slovaks. What lies behind it, and is it even real?
Marcin Chmielowski is the author of two books and numerous academic texts on economics and political science. He is also a screenwriter and director of documentary films (his film on Ludwig von Mises, Human Action, is available on YouTube). He currently serves as Vice President of the Freedom and Entrepreneurship Foundation.
Marcin spoke at our FMRS 2026 conference, Regulatory Detox, so we took the opportunity to interview him in the SITA studio. We discussed the roots of Poland’s rapid economic growth, real estate prices, the risks facing the Polish economy, and the making of his documentaries.
